Original Digiton It is one of my favorite synths. Digiton is not just a synth, so it may appear a bit of a backhand Competent word. This is a powerful multi -membrane box, one of the most versatile sequencers in the market. For me, the four trucks and the eight polyphony can feel a little restrictions. In addition, drums are not the best at all. As a result, digiton was pasted on the stand and treated like a desktop synth controlled by the MIDI keyboard.
At least on paper, Digitone II seems to have solved some of these issues. Currently, there are 16 voices on 16 trucks, there are three more new synth agins, one of the sound pallets, and one is dedicated to percussion. This is all in addition to the same type of sequence, modulation, and filter improvement I have already seen in Digitakt II (8/10, Wired Busment), but like the sample -based brothers, Digitone II has a considerable price. I received it. Hiking $ 999. The original is currently only $ 350 in the used market, so the two choices are not always cut and dry.

This is a new sound
Before someone's panic, the original Digitone 4 operator FM engine is still here. Some people do not sound exactly the same, suggest that the original is slightly hard and has a personality, but I think they are hallucinations. I loaded some presets designed for the original Digiton on Digitone II, but I don't know the difference. Sadly, even if you use the original FM sound engine, it is worth mentioning that you cannot load the Digiton II preset to the original Digiton. There are obviously some technical differences under the hood, but at least my ears do not seem to affect the sound.

The other three synth -agins are places where Digitone II actually separates from the original. In addition to the original FM engine (called the new model FM tone), there is an FM drum. As a result, the original sound engine is fine -tuned to suit percussion. Waveton is a bit glass -like, and sounds similar to what is seen in phase distortion and wavy synths. It's clearly digital, but not as tough as FM. Next, there is a swimmer. This is piled up with six excreted oscillators on the main oscillator to provide a super -thick sound for leads and organs. Many of my favorite new presets use the WaveTone machine very much. This can duplicate classic electro and clow -lock sounds with persuasive power.
