President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he effectively ended the Biden administration's hostility towards Bitcoin and other digital assets, and that his executive order aims to maintain US leadership in AI and crypto. Ta.
“I signed an executive order to keep the US at the forefront of artificial intelligence and end Joe Biden's war on Bitcoin and crypto, and we've finished that war completely. That war is over,” Trump said. He spoke at the FII priority summit in Miami Beach.
Trump criticized the SEC's approach to crypto regulations. He argued that many of the cryptocurrency-related accusations were politically motivated, suggesting that his influence led to their firing before the election.
“Absolutely a lot of people are being charged. Everything they did was just a very political group of people… they liked to indict people,” Trump said.
“Many of these indictments were dropped just before the election,” Trump noted, adding that these attempts were too late to be effective.
“We had that vote perfectly. I think everyone was a smart person who believed it, and there are a lot of people who believe it. Everyone who is smart is Trump I voted for and sought these charges,” he added.
Trump argued that his actions and decisions were driven by a sense of what he believes is right, not politically motivated.
“I don't do anything for political reasons. I do the right thing. I want to be at the forefront of any industry,” he said.
The president also argued that his support for the crypto industry has encouraged positive sentiment and investment in Bitcoin, leading to rising prices.
“Bitcoin…we're all aware that I'm committed to making America crypto capital, so I'm setting multiple all-time highs,” Trump added. “We want to stay at the forefront of everything.”
