One of those working with billionaire Elon Musk in an effort to overhaul the US government is a Berkeley-educated computer scientist who has helped white supremacists and misogynists online.
Gavin Kliger lists his work on LinkedIn as a “special advisor to the director” with the Human Resources Bureau. His USAID email address was copied into a message reviewed by Reuters, sent to staff at the International Aid Agency on Monday. They urged them to stay home while the agency was closed.
According to his LinkedIn profile, he graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2020. Reuters confirmed his attendance at Berkeley, but he was unable to verify other details in his profile.
Krigger is one of around 12 men identified by Reuters and other press agencies who were recruited to rebuild the federal government from Musk and his Doge office. Reuters were unable to determine the importance of Kliger's role in the OPM.
In a social media post from October to January 2024, Krigger expressed controversial views and reposted content from white supremacist Nick Fuentes and self-proclaimed misogyny Andrew Tate.
An OPM spokesperson declined to comment on Kliger's post. Kliger did not respond to multiple requests for comments via email and text. Public access to Kliger's X account was blocked after Reuters' request for comment on Thursday evening.
In response to a post about New York Mayor Eric Adams potentially closing immigration shelters in November, Krigger wrote: “
Kliger has reposted comments from white supremacist Fuentes, who is banned from social media platforms such as hate speech on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
Kliger shared the December 4th post from Fuentes' X account. Kliger has not wavered the post since then, but Reuters looked into copies of the original repost via internet archives.
In X's post, Fuentes ocks a post praises the photo of an apparently white couple drawn with two bright skin children and a dark skin baby. In his post, Fuentes refers to “adopted black children” and denies apparent interracial adoption. He also used the word “has,” a light-jour term for women. Reuters was unable to immediately establish the identity or ethnicity of the people depicted. Fuentes did not respond to requests for comments on posts via email.
Kliger also reposted Andrew Tate, a self-described social media influencer and self-described misogynist.
The former British-American kickboxer has been investigated by Romanian prosecutors for human trafficking, minor trafficking, sexual intercourse with minors and money laundering, and later, the naturalist UK He established a political party. Tate denied any fraud.
This post shared by Kliger: “I encourage foreigners to respect the standards of British culture, hygiene standards and social norms. You work within our parameters… Problem?
Marko Elez, another division of the Government Efficiency Bureau, went to a deleted social media account that advocated racism and eugenics on Thursday in a question from the Wall Street Journal. I quit while asking about the link. Reuters were unable to decide how they were chosen for work by working with Erez, Krigger or Musk to cut down government and personnel.
President Trump and Vice President JD Vance on Friday said Erez should get his job back.
Also on Friday, the former employer of Edward Coristine, another member of the Doge team, revealed that Coristine had been fired from his previous job in a leaked investigation.
In a statement in response to a Reuters question about Coristine's employment, Arizona-based network monitoring company Path Network has concluded Coristine's “short contract” after its internal investigation into the ownership company leak. He said he can confirm. Information consistent with his tenure. ”
Coristine did not immediately respond to requests for comment. His firing from the pass was first reported by Bloomberg.
