[Seoul (Reuters)]-The Korean court dismisses the prosecutor's request to extend the detention of President Yoon Sokuyol, who was impeached on Friday, a short -term declaration of martial law on December 3rd. Yonhap News reported.
The investigative high -ranking corruption investigation (CIO) transferred the case to a prosecutor on Thursday and requested that Mr. Yoon to prosecute for riot and abuse of authority.
Mr. Yun, who was impeached on December 14 and was suspended, has been imprisoned last week while the investigative authorities are investigating his attempt to activate martial law, but this measure was taken by Congress. Despite being overturned within a few hours, it shocked the people.
CIO expects Yun's detention to end around January 28, and expects the court to extend a 10 -day extension before the prosecutor officially prosecutes the president.
However, the Seoul Central District Court reported that the prosecutor had rejected the prosecutor's claim, saying that there was no substantial reason for continuing the investigation after securing evidence from CIO.
No comments from the Public Prosecutor's Office and the court have been obtained.
Mr. Yoon's lawyers have consistently argued that CIO has no authority to handle his case because the law stipulates high officials and a wide range of violations, but mentions the rebellion. Not done.
He also stated that all criminal investigations should be conducted after the Constitutional Court decided whether to be dismissed in another court on the impeachment of Yoon.
Lawyers issued a statement welcoming the court's decision on Friday, calling for CIO's investigation and resuming the investigation.
