Michael Saylor is one of the most influential people within the Bitcoin community. threw A “Bitcoin Collection” was presented to Portuguese soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo.
This was in response to a social media post in which Ronaldo flaunted a luxury watch created in partnership with American jeweler Jacob & Company.
Ronaldo's collaboration with undisclosed jewelry was originally announced in 2022.
Two watches, the Flight of CR7 and the Heart of CR7, both highlight some of the most famous soccer players.
Saylor, who has emerged as a leading Bitcoin evangelist, regularly pitches the leading cryptocurrency to a variety of influential figures. Earlier this year, he promoted Bitcoin as an investment.
Recently, MicroStrategy's founder jokingly stated that it's actually better than Bitcoin.
Ronaldo's NFT journey
Ronaldo has already stepped into the crypto industry. Back in November 2022, he partnered with crypto giant Binance to debut a unique collection of non-fungible tokens called “CR7.”
Last November, he was sued for $1 billion over Binance's promotion of NFTs.
Undeterred by legal issues, Ronaldo went on to present his fourth collection with the crypto giant in early May of this year.
Ronaldo jumped on the NFT bandwagon when the trend was already dying down. By late 2023, as much as 95% of the market was already considered worthless.
Even though Bitcoin is trading near all-time highs, it is not showing much excitement, with the number of Google searches dropping to the lowest level in a year.
That said, Saylor predicts that the cryptocurrency's price could eventually reach $13 million.
