An unknown entity has exploited a Telegram-based game running on the newly launched Ethereum (ETH) Layer 2 scaling solution, Blast Network.
The development team for the game Super Sushi Samurai (SSS) said in a post on social media platform X that token transfers have been temporarily suspended following an attack by an attacker. exploited This vulnerability allows an exploiter to double their token holdings by transferring them to themselves.
“We have been exploited, and it has to do with the mint. We are still investigating the code. The tokens were minted and sold as LPs.”
According to the security company Certification, $4.6 million worth of tokens were affected by the attack. However, this incident turned out to be a white hat rescue.
In whitehat rescue, hackers exploit protocols to indicate that a project has vulnerabilities. SSS says it has already communicated with the abuser.
“We are working with the White Hats on the safe return of funds. Updates and follow-up investigations will follow.”
Blast, which launched its mainnet a few weeks ago, has also faced criticism from the crypto community. In November, Polygon Labs Developer Relations Engineer Jarrod Watts warned About platform risks.
“When you send money to a Blast contract, you are essentially trusting three to five strangers to stake your money. You can't withdraw that money at any time unless you take it. Again, there's no bridge here.”
