Revision and Schedule
Compared to the data published in the news release of 15 May 2024, the monthly percentage changes for March 2024 have been revised from +0.6% to +0.5% in the Euro Area and from +0.2% to 0.0% in the EU. The annual percentage changes have been revised from -1.0% to -1.2% in the Euro Area and from -1.0% to -1.1% in the EU.
Methods and definitions
of Industrial Production Index It measures changes in industrial production, excluding construction, based on data adjusted for calendar year and seasonal effects.
Seasonally adjusted The Euro Area and EU series are calculated by aggregating seasonally adjusted national data.
The industry as a whole covers NACE rev.2 sections B to D. For the calculation of the Eurozone and EU aggregates, missing observations from member states for recent months are estimated.
The base year for the data has changed to 2021, with a base period ending in January 2024. Since 2018, the base year has been 2015. For more information on the reasons and impact of the change in base year, please see the related materials. Statistics commentary.
