Washington and your guide to what the world's 2024 US election means
The EU regrets that the United States President has decided to attack Canada, Mexico, and China with significant tariffs, and said that if the threat of expanding trade measures to Europe was satisfied, it would respond.
Trump has caused the World Trade War this weekend by announcing measures against three largest trading partners after the EU, which has the largest trade deficit with Washington. The Trump administration has so far before the US President has imposed tariffs on the EU, despite the fact that he would do so on Friday.
The EU executive spokesman said that the relationship between the United States blocked and invested was the largest in the world, and that it was “on crisis.”
“The full tariff measures will raise business costs and harm workers and consumers,” said Spokesman. “Customs duties cause unnecessary economic confusion and promote inflation. They are damaged on all aspects.”
“We don't know that additional tariffs are imposed on EU products at this time,” said the committee on Sunday. “However, the EU will respond firmly to the trading partner who imposes tariffs on the EU product or is imposed on Arbitrarily.”
EU officials began creating an emergency response plan for the Trump Trade War last summer.
The first approach was to buy more US products, such as liquefied natural gas, and to negotiate with areas where the president can narrow the trade deficit regularly reduced. Some capitals are also based on pledges to increase the number of national defense expenditures in order to soothe Trump, who wants NATO members to spend 5 % of GDP to the army.
If all of these efforts failed, the committee's trade department spent several months on a list of US imports, which could be hit by more than 50 % of duties. Brussels secretly keeps the details of these retaliation measures so as not to induce Trump.
In a confirmation of Trump's appointed person in Washington, Mallosusif Chobi, the EU trade committee, said, “I'm ready to be involved as soon as his counter part is confirmed.” The staff said.
Klaas Knot, a member of the European Central Bank of the Central Bank of the European Central Bank, said on Sunday that the government would oppose US measures and would worsen a trade war that would hurt all aspects.
“Europe doesn't want to be pushed away. Knot, the president of the Central Bank of the Netherlands, told the Netherlands on Sunday.
French Prime Minister François Bileo also urged him to unite his fellow EU if Trump's threat to his tariff. “If we are looking for our own interests, we will disappear,” he told the La Tribune newspaper on Sunday.
“There is a card to play in the United States in Trump,” Bailu said, saying that French products are “excellent” at airplanes, helicopters, and nuclear power plants.
Trump imposed a blanket tariff on Canada and Mexico by calling the International Emergency Economic Power Law, which can take measures in response to “abnormal and extraordinary threats.”
He must find a justifying the EU to just use the same tool, or to impose tariffs targeting a specific industrial department for security reasons, as he did during the first presidential position.
