Eurozone construction output increased for the third consecutive month in February, at a strong pace, mainly driven by a recovery in civil engineering and building construction, according to preliminary data released by statistics agency Eurostat on Thursday.
Construction output increased as per the calendar with a seasonally adjusted 1.8% month-on-month increase, following a downward revision of 0.2% growth in January.
Building construction increased by 3.5%, a complete reversal from the 3.1% slump at the beginning of the year.

Civil engineering construction increased by 4.5%, following an increase of 1.2% in the previous month. This month was the second month of growth.
Special construction work also increased for the second consecutive month, increasing by 1.7%.
In the EU, construction output increased by 1.8% after falling by 1.2% in the previous month.
Among EU member states, construction output increased the most in Austria, Germany and Slovenia, while it decreased the most in Hungary, France and Sweden.
On a year-on-year basis, production fell 0.4% in February after falling 0.3% in January, a revision from the previously announced 0.8% increase.
