2024 was a great year ethereum.organd we already have our hands full with projects and initiatives for 2025, so it's important to take a moment to celebrate the accomplishments made possible by our community over the past year.
With that in mind, we've compiled the key highlights of 2024. I hope you enjoy reading it.
BLOBs Everywhere: Starting the Dencun FAQ
In 2023, we built a comprehensive hub for Ethereum's protocol roadmap. ethereum.org. A few months later, in March 2024, Cancun – Deneb (a.k.a. Denkun) A network upgrade has been deployed. Since we've been getting a lot of questions, it's time to create a FAQ-style page explaining what's included in our latest upgrade.
Scaling Ethereum, one word at a time: ethereum.org
2nd edition of ethereum.org translation songThe annual translation contest to increase the amount of non-English Ethereum content exceeded all expectations. Over two weeks, 327 participants translated 2.53 million words, making Ethereum-related content accessible in 70 languages. With the support of our global community, we have also facilitated 12 in-person translation hubs across four continents.

Better, Faster, More Powerful: Migrating UI Libraries to ShadCN
After doing extensive work to improve the performance of our website in 2023, we realized that our previous UI library was preventing us from providing the best performance and user experience. ethereum.org is accessed by people all over the world using a variety of devices and sometimes slow internet connections, so we needed the UI to work seamlessly for everyone.
That's why we decided to work with our community to switch our UI library to ShadCN, which is based on Tailwind CSS, a well-known performance-oriented library widely used by developers.

Gathering: Devcon SEA
in Devcon SEAethereum.org was present at the Impact Forum during the first two days of the event and made a big impression. We welcomed over 400 visitors and were able to share ethereum.org's mission while fostering connections within our community. Approximately 200 merchandise items (including T-shirts, coloring books, and postcards) were distributed to contributors, adding to the fun and memorable atmosphere.
Recognizing outstanding contributions: Contributor Recognition Program
The Contributor Acknowledgment Program is a year-long initiative within the ethereum.org community designed to recognize and reward members for their valuable contributions to the ethereum.org portal. In 2024, POAP, GitPOAPand Garxe.
Furthermore, L2? L2 content is even more enriched!
In 2024, Layer 2 (L2) Content available on ethereum.org. It reflects the importance of scaling solutions in the Ethereum ecosystem. The website has introduced a more comprehensive, beginner-friendly L2 section featuring interactive guides, visuals, and comparisons of popular L2 solutions.
New look: ethereum.org home page revamp
Over the past decade, ethereum.org has gone through many transformations, eventually settling on the purple and blue pastel design that has become well-known since 2020. The homepage redesign has been long overdue, and our goal was to continue to introduce you to what Ethereum is all about. , emphasizes how everyone can participate.
The Heart of Open Source: Attending Hacktoberfest 2024
In October we cooperated hacktoberfesta global initiative that fosters contributions to open source projects. Over 40 PRs were submitted, and we would like to thank the 20 contributors who joined ethereum.org during this month-long effort and contributed everything from content, design, migrations, and tons of bug fixes. I cannot thank you enough.
Ethereum terminology, translation: Introducing ETHGlossary
As part of the Translation Thon, we ETH Glossary—A platform that gamifies the process of translating Ethereum terms. Users can vote on the best translations of key concepts and discuss why certain translations work (or don't). To date, we have received approximately 7,000 translations in over 40 languages, confirming that ETHGlossary plays a key role in building a comprehensive glossary of Ethereum terms across multiple languages.
Connect with the community: community calls, QA sessions, office hours
In 2024, we held 38 events. ethereum.orgThis is a Discord server. These range from office hours that simplify Ethereum's complex topics for beginners to monthly community calls that provide updates on the portal and ecosystem. We also held biweekly Q&A sessions where contributors got to test out new releases. ethereum.org—It's safe to say that I spent a lot of time online last year.

New home on the web: Next Billion and ETHproofs.org
In addition to maintaining ethereum.org, our core team also supports web development for various initiatives within the Ethereum Foundation. Over the past year, we have been working together to design and launch a new website. Next Billion Fellowship and ETH proof—These collaborations reflect our commitment to supporting impactful initiatives across our community.
In 2025, we'll evolve the way we build ethereum.org. Since January, we have adopted the Shape Up methodology. It consists of eight week periods (“cycles”) focused on shipping features and initiatives. We will share more details soon.
While we will continue to create annual product roadmaps, we plan to release “cycle roadmaps” in our GitHub repository in the future.What we'll be working on in this first cycle can be found here.
