2nd edition of ethereum.org translatathon It's in the book! This year, we saw 327 contributors translate an incredible 2.53 million words in 70 languages. Let's take a look at the details:
What is Trans Taton?
Translatathon is an annual translation competition to increase the amount of non-English Ethereum content.
Participation is bilingual and can be attended by anyone who does not require technical knowledge. During Translatathon, participants will contribute to Ethereum.org and learn more about Ethereum when competing for awards.

The goal was to get more translations in less expressed languages, expand multilingual content, bring new contributors, and reward existing contributors.
Numbers: 2023 vs 2024
How activity compares to last year's translation:
- Active translator: 217→327 (increased by 50%)
- Translated words: 1.47m → 2.53m (70% increase)
- Translated language: 56→70 (25% increase)
It spread the $30,000 prize out of 189 eligible participants. The top 10 translators also recorded DevCon tickets and discounts. Not that bad!

What does this mean for ethereum.org?
Translatathon has a major impact on the translated content available on Ethereum.org! Here's what we add to our site:
- 1.35 million newly translated words
- 3,173 pages added or updated to 55 languages
- Six new languages have been added (Akan Twi, Ewe, Hausa, Shona, Tagalog, and Yoruba)
The whole picture
With these additions, ethereum.org Covers 68 non-English languages. Adding English to the mix will create content that grows wild to approximately 5.5 billion people. This is about 67% of the world where you can start learning about Ethereum in your native language!
Beyond Ethereum.org: The impact of the ecosystem
Many languages are turned on thanks to amazing contributors ethereum.org It was already completely translated. We also included content from other Ethereum projects to make sure everyone can take part in the fun (and compete for prizes). Here's a breakdown of translation activities:
ethglossary
As part of Translatathon, I created an Ethglossary. This is a new tool that is turning Ethereum terminology into a multilingual adventure!
Ethlossary prevents games that translate Ethereum terms in over 60 languages. You can vote for the best translation for important concepts and discuss why a particular translation works (or doesn't)! We were excited to propose 6,226 translations across 40 languages to 84 contributors during the translation period.
Our goal is to keep Ethglossary repeated and become a completely open source app that anyone can use and contribute. We aim to create the best resources for Ethereum terminology in all languages and boost the entire ecosystem.
Collect IRLs
To bring together translators, we supported community-organized translation hubs in 11 countries. Over 100 people have translated, chatted all Ethereum and showed up to have a good time!
What's next?
The translation may be complete, but the translation program will not sleep.
