Not only does Doge seem to understand this, it doesn't give any indication that he wants to understand it. They are gone as these are the easiest employees to speak legally. It has changed the length of probation (from one to two years) beyond the National Science Foundation purge.
To promote a startup to glory, you need a certain swashbuckling arrogance. But as we have said over and over, the US is not a startup. The federal government exists to do everything that is not definedly beneficial to the public goods, rather than protecting the interests of investors. (Most of the startups have also failed, and the things the US can't afford to do are also failing.)
And if you don't believe in the public interest? You run through the abandoned ins. You will transfer from agent to agent, leveling out the greatest allowable destruction under the law. Doge's expensive, embarrassing mistakes are a by-product of reckless nihilism. If artificial intelligence can sell pizza to you, of course it can prevent general service stations in the future.
Worse, none of this actually helps Doge fall into that mission. What is the efficiency of firing people who have to scramble to hire? How much does it cost to thousands of federal employees compared to the F-35 program? In fact, what are we doing here?
There are two possible explanations for this confusion. For one, Masks and Doges are not interested in government or efficiency, but are deeply aware of the data they can reap from various institutions and enjoy privatization for themselves. The other is that many talented coders actually responded to higher citizen callings, but here they hit .202.
Musk had a rare moment of self-awareness late last week when he appeared in an oval office with his 4-year-old son and President Donald Trump. “We make mistakes,” he said. “But we will act quickly to correct our mistakes.”
So far, he's half right.
