AKRON, Ohio (WJW) – The Akron Police Department is asking for help identifying a suspect who defrauded senior citizens out of thousands of dollars on March 1st.
Akron police posted what appears to be home surveillance footage of a dark-haired male suspect wearing black clothing and white Nike shoes.
Police said the suspect talked with the elderly man about possible computer problems and eventually convinced the victim to put $8,000 into a Bitcoin machine.
Another suspect, who was acting as a money mule, then picked up $14,600 in cash.
The suspect was driving a black Toyota with New York license plate KZN2934.
