Aya Miyaguchi today announced that she will be transitioning from executive director of Ethereum Foundation (EF), a decision she decided a year ago to president.
In her new role, Miyagi will focus on supporting the institutional relationships of EF and expanding the organization's vision and culture more widely.
“Ethereum belongs to just everyone because no one belongs,” Miyagi wrote in her announcement. “Our culture of permissions does not only tolerate disagreements, but it becomes stronger through it.”
Miyagi emphasized that the role of EF never controlled any aspect of Ethereum.
“Our responsibility – our accountability lies in supporting the values of Ethereum,” she said. “Through both our actions and inactivity, we are responsible for ensuring that Ethereum remains resilient not only as a network, but as a broader ecosystem of people, ideas and values. .”
During his seven years at EF, Miyaguchi oversaw several key initiatives, including promoting client diversity, supporting R&D Interop Retreats, and coordinating development calls. She highlighted the merger into proof integration as a specific outcome that requires “leadership without control, coordination without centralization.”
“When we first discussed the possibility of moving to Vitalik to President a year ago, it was intended to continue fostering Ethereum's unique culture and serve as a voice to bridge the gap between Ethereum and the wider global community. ” Miyaguchi wrote.
