Meet András Arató, known as Hide the Pain Harold, a Hungarian engineer who never planned to become an internet star.
What began as a simple stock photo session has transformed into a global phenomenon. And now Harold is making waves in the world of crypto with his own memo coin, $PAIN.
The birth of memes
During the holidays, Harold took some casual vacation photos. The photographer discovered his potential and invited him to take stock photo shoots.
Soon, his photos were everywhere.

But people noticed something unexpected. His forced smile seemed to hide the deeper pain.
Around 2011, the online community began to add funny captions and tragic backstories, and it was born out of “Hide Harold.”
Become a meme fame
The meme quickly spread to Facebook, Reddit, 4chan, and Imgur.
By 2016, Harold had revealed his true self to the world, and in 2020 he had crowned Imgar's “10 Years Meme” and even illuminated the grumpy cat-like legend.

Accept fame
At first, Harold wasn't too excited about his accidental fame. But soon he embraced his role as an icon of the Internet.
From television appearances to brand deals with Coca-Cola and Vodafone, and even Ted Talk, Harold has transformed the meme into a full-fledged career.

No pain or profit of $
In 2025, Harold set foot on the Crypto scene with the launch of $Pain, the official mimecoin inspired by the legacy of his own memes.
Despite massive market reforms, $Pain Presale raised around 1,85,976 Sol (approximately $40 million) in just 48 hours. This is a record-breaking achievement.

And this gives a twist. Harold refunded 80% of the funds. This is a move that built trust and sets new standards for Meme Coin World.
Like he said, this coin is not here to add more pain to your portfolio. It's a playful nod to the ups and downs of life.
In March 2024, Memecoin plunged after the Bitcoin Flash crash, which dramatically affected the broader crypto market.
Last month, the co-founder of the Doodles NFT brand launched a poop token, with two wallets taking 38% of their initial supply, sparking concerns about insider trading.
In July 2024, meme coins like Bonk and Brett surged in value despite the turbulence in the market that had slowed Bitcoin performance.
In November 2024, “Chil Guy” memecoin faced legal challenges from its creators for unauthorized use after gaining popularity through the success of the virus.
Earlier this year, the Solana Meme Coin Ecosystem saw record volumes of tokens fueled by Dogwifhat and Bonk, along with robust community engagement and social media hype.
