According to the U.S. Federal Aviation Bureau, passenger jet and military helicopter collisioned near Reagan National Airport late on Wednesday.
A regional flight operated by American Airlines PSA Airlines was born in Wichita, Kansas. The Bombardia CRJ700 and the US Army Cikorsky H-60 Black Hawk Helicopter collided when the jet approached the airport around 9 pm.
Washington's Metropolitan Police Station in X stated in X, saying on the Potomac River that “search and rescue activities for multiple organizations are underway” on the Potmax River. There was no immediate confirmation of the victim.
American Airlines stated that 5342 Eagle flights in the United States, which carry 60 passengers and four crew members, were “involved in an accident.”
“Our concerns are that passengers and crews are on aircraft,” said the airline. “We are in touch with the authorities and support urgent efforts.”
American lawyers said that there were three crew members on a helicopter, but no senior staff. The second official said that the situation of the helicopter crew was unknown. The Army said that Blackhawk was operated in Fort Berboa, Virginia.
“We are working with local officials and we will provide additional information when available,” said the Army.
In a statement, President Donald Trump said, “I was completely explained about a terrible accident.”
The airports, near the Pentagon, opposite the national mall, have stopped all takeoff and landing, near the Pentagon, but the terminal remained open.
Sikorsky's spokesman manufactures a black hawk helicopter and owns a defense contractor, Lockheed Martin. “We provided survey and support for customers.”
The MHI RJ AVIATION, which acquired a support project from the CRJ series aircraft and Bombardia in 2020, did not immediately respond to comment requests.
