SOL, the native cryptocurrency of the Solana blockchain, could soar five times in 2025, according to a recent forecast from global banking giant Standard Chartered. The company expects the fifth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization to surpass Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). If Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump wins the presidential election in November.
Solana is poised to outperform Bitcoin under President Trump
Analysts at the bank, led by Jeff Kendrick, StanChart's global head of digital asset research, are optimistic about Solana's future if President Trump retakes the White House.
They predict that Solana's price could rise five times by the end of next year, outpacing Ether and Bitcoin, which could rise four times and three times in value, respectively.
“Roughly speaking from today’s prices under the Trump administration, we expect the following multiples by the end of 2025: SOL 5x, ETH 4x, BTC 3x,” Standard Chartered wrote in an Oct. 8 note. I wrote it in
Analysts believe the Trump administration will be more supportive of Mr. Solana and the digital asset ecosystem as a whole than the administration led by Kamala Harris. “The introduction of Solana exchange-traded funds (ETFs) will become more likely under President Trump,” they added.
Emerging cryptocurrencies like SOL will be able to take advantage of a more friendly market backdrop as President Trump is expected to lean toward a pro-innovation regulatory environment, according to Standard Chartered strategists.
“Trump’s policies are likely to accelerate the growth of blockchain platforms like Solana and make them easier to regulate. In this scenario, SOL will outperform ETH and even Bitcoin, leading to an increase in the blockchain space.” It is predicted to consolidate its position as the dominant force in the
What will happen to the ether under Harris?
In contrast, the Harris administration will likely take a more cautious approach to crypto regulation and support Ethereum.
Standard Chartered suggested that Harris would introduce strict rules that would slow down new blockchains like Solana, while benefiting Ether because of its established infrastructure.
Ultimately, the British multinational bank predicts that if Harris wins the election, Bitcoin will outperform ETH and Ether will outperform SOL's rise in 2025. Specifically, Standard Chartered currently sees Ethereum reaching around $10,000 under the Trump administration and around $7,000 under the Harris/Waltz administration.
Meanwhile, the bank's analysts expect Bitcoin to top $200,000 by the end of 2025, regardless of the election outcome.
