Trump's speech came after fellow presidential candidate Kennedy spoke at the conference on Friday, where the independent candidate made a series of promises to the audience, including signing an executive order requiring the U.S. to purchase 550 Bitcoin per day to build up a 4 million BTC reserve, making all transfers between dollars and Bitcoin non-reportable and tax-free, and ordering the transfer of 200,000 Bitcoin to the U.S. Treasury to be held as a strategic asset.
Meanwhile, Senator J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), who is President Trump's running mate, has been a vocal supporter of cryptocurrencies. During his time in the Senate, Vance criticized SEC Chairman Gary Genzer's crackdown on bitcoin regulation.
