Former President Donald J. Trump's website states that the presidential candidate now supports cryptocurrency donations.
According to his campaign website, users can donate fiat currency or choose from more options to donate cryptocurrencies. His campaign supports donations made through Coinbase Wallet and MetaMask, which will go to a joint fundraising committee organized by the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee (RNCH).
“Demonstrating President Trump's success as a champion of American freedom and innovation, we proudly offer the opportunity to contribute to the campaign with cryptocurrencies,” the site said.

Trump promised to allow donations to cryptocurrencies in a speech earlier this month, highlighting cryptocurrencies as a political issue in this year's presidential election.
“This addition to President Trump's already groundbreaking digital fundraising efforts marks the first time a major party presidential candidate has adopted virtual currency for donations,” a statement about the move said.
He added that President Trump plans to “build a crypto army” by allowing his supporters to donate cryptocurrencies ahead of the November 5 election.

The former president is not the only candidate offering people the opportunity to donate cryptocurrencies in this presidential election. Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s campaign announced last May that it would accept Bitcoin.
But opportunities for politicians to collect donations in more than just cash can be traced back to 2016, when Sen. Rand Paul asked for Bitcoin donations during that year's presidential campaign.
Presidential candidates Andrew Yang and Eric Salwell also accepted crypto donations in 2020.
