On January 3, 2009, Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto mined the first block of the Bitcoin blockchain, known as the Genesis block. This block contained a reward of 50 Bitcoins. At the time, Bitcoin's technical foundations were being established, but the currency had no real-world value.
All that changed on May 22, 2010, when Laszlo Hanecz, a Florida-based programmer, offered 10,000 Bitcoins to anyone who ordered two pizzas at Papa John's.
Hanyets I wrote this on the Bitcoin Talk forum.: “I pay 10,000 Bitcoins for 2 pizzas. I'll probably get 2 large pizzas and have some left over for the next day. I like to eat leftover pizza later. You can make it yourself and have it delivered to your home, or you can order it from a delivery shop, but my goal is to get food in exchange for Bitcoin without having to order or prepare it myself. It’s like ordering a ‘breakfast platter’ at a hotel or something, just bring something to eat and you’re happy!”
He also added about his favorite toppings. “I like onions, bell peppers, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, pepperoni, etc. Just the standard stuff, no weird fish toppings or anything like that. It's also cheaper to prepare or buy in other ways.” , I also like regular cheese pizza.”
