If you need a warm blanket but don't want traditional down, consider a doo-down alternative, or a comforter made of eucalyptus or bamboo.
$225 Buffy Breeze Quilt: The Buffy Breeze comforter has been in my bed for years. Made with a filling of eucalyptus fibers, it features an eucalyptus fiber cover, giving it a silky feel and excellent temperature control. It gets warmer in the winter, but in the summer it doesn't get too hot or suffocating. There are cute duvet covers I don't completely love – the duvet moves quite inwards – but if you want a duvet cover, this is decent and made of similar materials so it won't undermine the cooling function of the duvet. The best part is that Buffy Breeze is very affordable and is basically sold during all shopping holidays.
Wayfair Sleep All-Season Oll-Season Down Ortertative Comforter is $150: Wayfair sleep with polyester fill is not too expensive and holds up almost as much as the road options you might find in your research. If you are sensitive to allergens, alternatives can be a better option. It's a bit lighter for my taste, but people in warm climates might appreciate all the weightless cozy feeling that other blankets have.
Utopia bedding $43 replacement comforter: If you're on a limited budget, this affordable alternative comforter offers great value for your price. It's quilted and lightweight, but even though it's not particularly heavy, it will still keep you warm. I wasn't a huge fan of outer fabrics. It is a microfiber that has been found to be slightly scratched and rough. However, the comforter comes in a wide range of colors (11 to choose from). There are corner loops so it works with a futon cover. It's also well built. Unlike other affordable comforters I used in the past, no single loose thread or stitching was found.
Eden & Om Bamboo Comforter for $224: This blanket is silky soft and extremely thin. Summer blankets are naturally cooled so they'll be a great option, but on the contrary, you might want to have a warm comforter for a cool night. Even the extra weight doesn't completely block the cold from my box fans and can't keep me warm enough in brutal winter months. But on nights that aren't as chilly as you're scared outside, this blanket reminds me of a Buffy Breeze comforter (above). This helps regulate your body temperature without being too warm or too cold. It's also quite breathable so you won't wake up feeling sweaty, trapped and overheated.

White Noise Goose Down and Feather All Season Quilt $64: This all-season medium weight comforter is breathable, balanced and suitable for all seasons, with a concentration of 600 fills of 2-3 inches. The outer material is soft, but it's made of polyester and nylon, which makes it strange for the touch, but this helps reduce noise and is quieter than the others I've tested. It is machine washable, so it balances a great balance between being thin and light, perfect for warm weather, and is thick enough to feel still cozy. But the comforter was accompanied by a truly strange and irritating smell that smelled like grass and sweat. I wash it twice and let it dry so it can withstand the bad smell, but I was able to occasionally smell it during the test. This is a solid all-season under comforter that is well-balanced and has a great price range. I wish there wasn't that much of a glossy smell. –Molly Higgins
